Police Arrest Two, Recover Seven Stolen Power Tillers Worth ₦3.15 Million in Birnin Kebbi

-

Police in Birnin Kebbi have arrested two men and recovered seven stolen power tiller machines valued at ₦3.15 million following a recent warehouse burglary. A third suspect remains at large.

The investigation began on Thursday, September 11, when Architect Usman Wasagu reported that his store, located behind the Sajo School of Nursing Science, had been broken into. The theft, which occurred around 2:00 a.m. on September 9, resulted in the loss of seven power tillers.

Acting on a credible tip, a team from the Divisional Police Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi arrested Hamidu Bagudu, 52, and Abdullahi Aliyu, 35, both residents of the city.

According to police, the suspects confessed during questioning, stating they had received the stolen machinery from a man identified as Usman Inyamu of the Tudun Wada area, who is now wanted by police. They alleged Inyamu sold the equipment to Abdullahi Aliyu for ₦1.84 million.

Police successfully recovered all seven stolen machines and seized ₦250,000 in cash, believed to be part of the proceeds from the illegal sale.

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the officers for their prompt and professional handling of the case. He has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for diligent investigation and prosecution.

CP Sani reiterated the Command’s determination to rid the state of crime and urged the public to continue providing timely information to help make Kebbi State uninhabitable for criminals.
