… Recover Arms, Ammunition In Delta
The Delta State Police Command has arrested suspected armed robbers, and kidnappers, and recovered a locally made gun and 38 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
The Police spokesman in the State, Bright Edafe, said that the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, acting on credible information, deployed operatives of Agbarho police station to storm the house of 43-year-old Ovoke Enaike, an indigene of Ovierie Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, but residing in Ehwerhe Village Agbarho.
Edafe said: “During the search of his daylong motorcycle with Reg. NO: DTS XLEH 13 WL, a nylon bag containing one Locally fabricated gun, one live cartridge and 30 rounds of AK 47 Rifle ammunition hidden under the motorcycle seat was recovered.
“The suspect is in Agbarho Police Custody, while efforts are on top gear to arrest the remaining gang members and recover more arms. The case will be transferred to State Headquarters Asaba, preliminary investigation is in progress, and further development will be communicated.”
Also, the Command arrested suspected car snatchers and recovered a stolen vehicle.
Edafe said that on the 9th of September 2024 at about 5:45 pm, on credible intelligence, the commander CP Monitoring Unit, a Superintendent of Police, Inyere Elias Chinedu, led operatives to KM 9 Asaba/Benin Express Way where two male suspects namely, Olisa Emenoha, 26 of Ifete Awka and Iteke Uchenna Wilson 26, of road 21 Ngozika Estate Awka, both from Anambra State were arrested in possession of Toyota Corolla with REG NO: AWK 597 ND, Toyota Camry with REG NO: GDD 149 MA, suspected to be stolen.
Edafe further stated that they were arrested just when they were about to dispose of the vehicles. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were serial car snatchers and one of the vehicles was snatched at a gunpoint in Akwa Ibom State.
