Police Foil Bandit Attack in Kebbi, Neutralise 3 Suspects in Dandi LGA

-

In a decisive operation aimed at curbing violent crimes in Kebbi State, the state police command has recorded a significant success following a gun battle with suspected bandits in Dandi Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the command, at approximately 12:45 p.m. on October 3, 2025, credible intelligence revealed that a gang of suspected Lakurawa bandits had invaded Gorun Yamma village. Acting swiftly on the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Kamba Division, SP Mohd Bello Lawal, mobilised a joint team of police officers and local vigilantes to the scene.
The team engaged the assailants in a prolonged gunfight, resulting in the neutralisation of three suspected bandits. Several others reportedly fled into the nearby forest with gunshot wounds. Authorities also recovered an unregistered red Honda motorcycle, locally referred to as “Boko Haram,” from the scene.

Commending the swift and courageous response, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, praised SP Lawal and his team for their bravery and professionalism. He emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between security forces and local communities in tackling the growing threat posed by the Lakurawa terror group and other criminal elements.
In a directive following the incident, CP Sani ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, CP Sani urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or security agency for prompt action.
