Police Rescue Two Kidnap Victims in Kebbi, CP Sani Commends Ribah Division’s Onslaught Against Banditry

-

The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of two kidnap victims following a fierce gun battle with armed bandits in Dankade village, Ribah district, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

According to the Command, on August 15, 2025, at about 3:05 p.m., a combined team of policemen, vigilantes, and local hunters, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ribah, engaged the bandits in a prolonged gun duel during an aggressive patrol operation.

The victims, 26-year-old Tukur Bello of Kembawa village, Augie LGA, Kebbi State, and 25-year-old Isyaka Abubakar of Budun village, Gummi LGA, Zamfara State, had been abducted on August 9 while grazing cattle in Gairi forest, Zamfara State. Both men were rescued unhurt and immediately taken to a medical facility for examination before being reunited with their families.

In reaction to the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the “determination, resilience, and professionalism” of the Ribah Division and urged the team to sustain the offensive against banditry and other violent crimes.

The CP further encouraged other Divisional Police Officers across the state to intensify patrols and visibility policing along highways and surrounding bushes, stressing that such proactive measures are critical to ensuring the safety and security of Kebbi residents.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment, CP Sani assured that the police would continue to safeguard lives and property while working closely with communities to restore peace and promote socio-economic development in the state.
