The Katsina State Police Command said it has carried out an in-depth investigation on the 15 political agents arrested with 20 laptops in the state, allegedly with the intent of hacking into INEC servers to rig election results.
The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police, Gambo Isah, said that Command has carried out in-depth investigations with the assistance of an independent computer expert and it was discovered that the political party in question was setting up a situation room, using a computer application software, for the purpose of collating elections results through their party agents, but not to hack into INEC servers with intent to rig elections results as allegedly reported.
Isah said: “The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Kolo Yusuf is assuring the members of the public that the Command is on top of the situation and in synergy with other sister agencies, has put in place water-tight security at all RACs, Polling Centers and Units and urges all to go out and cast their votes without any fear of attack or molestation.”
