Policewoman accused of removing test result, reducing suspect’s age

An aggrieved mother has alleged a policewoman attached to Igbogbo Police Station removed her test result showing her daughter was violated from their case file and then reduced the perpetrator’s age in order to allow him to walk.

The woman, who identified herself as Mrs Victor, said her two daughters, 1/8 months old Miss K and the other three years old Miss J, were defiled by 11 years old Ayo and eight years old Simi, causing the children serious injuries.

Ayo was said to have sexually penetrated, while Simi, a girl used her fingers in the process on both children thereby inflicting injuries on them.

Victor said: “They were rushed to the hospital and medical reports were obtained and handed over to the police for investigation but the police messed up the whole thing. First, at the Igbogbo Police station, one Woman Police, Corporal Pius Bukky took a side and tried to alter the age of the suspect so that especially Ayo (11 years old) will not be criminally liable.”

The woman believed that Bukky had collected money and decided to treat the case shabbily.

“We insisted we needed justice. The gender department in Igbogbo then transferred the case to the gender department at the State Command, Ikeja. I was made to buy fuel to type my letters as well as tipped Bukky and also paid to convey the suspects to the Command. I was so confident the almighty state police command would handle the matter professionally but here was the worst,” said Victor. “As if everything was prearranged, Cpl. Bukky met one fat black man in mufti, I don’t know his rank but he is working in that section. They did not even acquaint themselves with the details of the case properly when they started to take sides on the matter.”

Victor said that she was shocked when Bukky and the fat man, whom she assumed was his colleague, blamed her for lodging a complaint against minors.

Victor also said: “In my presence, they petted the suspects and told them that the law exempts them from criminal prosecution. They told them that they are children and had no mind to commit a crime, that they were innocent in everything. The children who were initially afraid became bolder. Nobody was looking at my side at all. I felt frustrated and was discharged. The Investigating Police Officer of this case at the command is Woman Inspector Idowu. She didn’t even have a mouth to talk to because others who claimed they were DSPs and superior in the ranks hijacked the case from her.
