The self-acclaimed human rights activist, Professor Duke Zainab Abiola, who ordered her domestic staff to assault her Police Orderly, Woman Inspector Teju Moses, was arraigned in Abuja today 23rd September 2022.

She was arraigned at the Wuse Magistrates Court Zone 6. Court refuses the defendant’s bail. She will be in Suleja Prison till 5rd of October 2022.

The court was presided over by Justice Elizabeth Jones-Wonni. The justice stated that she relied on Section 229 of the Penal Code which gives jurisdiction to the Chief Magistrate to handle the case of culpable homicide to the bail application.

The defendant was ordered to be remanded in Sulejah Correctional Facility till when the trial commences.

The professor attracted public outrage after a video, where Moses was bleeding following a beating received on the instruction of her principal surfaced on social media.

According to Moses, the Professor asked her domestic staff to assault her because she refused to wash her car while in uniform.

Angry Nigerians are currently asking about the parameters used in giving Police Orderly to civilians. The silence to that question from the Force Headquarters has been deafening.
