PSC Delegation Visits Kano State For Need Assessment Of Police Service Institute

A Delegation from the Police Service Commission is in Kabo, Kano State for the need assessment of the proposed Police Service Commission Insitute, a strategic innovative Police oversight short-course training Institution for Staff of the Commission and other Public Officers from across the world.

The Commission Delegation is led by DIG Taiwo Lakanu rtd, Honourable Commissioner in the Commission and includes Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.

The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu rtd, mni had a few weeks ago visited the site of the Institute and inspected the ongoing project where he expressed his happiness about the progress of work.

DIG Argungu had declared after inspection, that with the coming of the Institute, oversight of Police by the Commission would become strategic, purposeful and result-oriented.

He said the Institute, a novel one in the continent will afford other African countries and some others across the globe the rare opportunity to equip themselves with valuable knowledge on Police sight.

The Commission team visited the site yesterday, Thursday and today, Friday (10 and 11th of October 2024) and assessed the vital needs required for the Institute to take off.

The PSC technical team was led by Solomon Jibrin, Deputy Director and Head of the Commission’s General Services Department. Also in the team are Rymond Udom, Assistant Director and Ayodele Timothy, Chief Technical Officer. They were joined by the technical team handling the project; Arc. Haruna Ataji, project architect, Engr. Suleiman Ibrahim, Project Engineer, and Hashimu Abdulkadir, senior Legislative aide to the Deputy Senate President.

The PSC team also visited the District head of Kabo, Idris Muhammad Adamu Dankabo who was represented by Mai Unguwa Isah Kanye.

Speaking at his Palace, the PSC leader of Delegation, DIG Lakanu thanked a proud son of Kabo and Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau for facilitating the emergence of the Institute with the donation of the land and facilities for its take-off.

DIG Lakanu expressed the Commission’s gratitude to the Senator and prayed that God would continue to bless him and replenish his pocket.

He noted that it is obvious that there is adequate police presence in Kano state with the Zone 1 Police Headquarters, Police Academy Wudil and now the Police Service Commission Institute Kabo.

DIG Lakanu said the Institute when operational will attract security and Public Service Officers from all over the world to do short course training programmes and sharpen their skills in Police oversight. The leader of the Delegation agreed with the District head that the Divisional Police Officer for Kabo, CSP Ado Salisu has been hardworking and has contributed massively to the prevailing peace in the town and promised that the Commission will continue to reward hard work to serve as motivation for more work.
