The Police Service Commission (PSC) has released the names of successful applicants selected for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force as Police Constables, under a nationwide exercise aimed at bringing 50,000 new officers into the force.
According to a statement issued by the Commission, the recruitment process was carried out in partnership with several key stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, the Ministry of Police Affairs, State Career and Counselling Departments, and the Police Community Relations Committee. The PSC described the exercise as “comprehensive, inclusive, equitable and transparent.”
Candidates who sat for the recently concluded written examination have been advised to check their status on the official recruitment portal, npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, which opens at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Applicants will also be notified directly via the email addresses and phone numbers submitted during their initial application.
Successful candidates will be required to report to designated Police Training Institutions for medical examination and documentation, with specific dates to be announced. The Commission warned that candidates who fail to report within the stipulated timeframe “will be considered to have declined the offer,” while those who do not pass the medical screening conducted by the Police Medical Team will be declared unfit and asked to leave the training.
Candidates have been instructed to come prepared with their training call-up slip, National Identification Number (NIN) slip, Bank Verification Number (BVN) slip, and original and photocopied certificates, along with any other documents specified on the recruitment portal.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), mni, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support of the initiative. “The Chairman… thanked the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria… for graciously approving the recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables as part of measures to strengthen the nation’s security architecture,” the statement read.
DIG Argungu also had a message for the newly selected recruits, urging them to embrace the responsibility ahead of them. He described the opportunity as “a clarion call to serve the nation with dignity, integrity and unwavering commitment to a safe and secure Nigeria.”
