The Prayer and Support for Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of officers and other victims in the recent Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft crash at Igbokoda, Ondo State.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, the group extended its condolences to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Nigerian Air Force, and the families, colleagues and friends of those who lost their lives.
PSNAFSA described the incident as a painful reminder of the risks faced by personnel of the Armed Forces and other security agencies in carrying out their constitutional duties.
The group said it stands with the NAF family and all those affected, while acknowledging the courage and selfless sacrifices routinely made by those serving the nation.
“The loss is not only a devastating blow to the Nigerian Air Force but also a profound tragedy for the families, colleagues, friends and communities of those who died,” the group said.
The organisation called for sustained and improved support for the Armed Forces and other security agencies, particularly in the areas of intelligence, equipment, logistics, communications, aviation safety and personnel welfare.
It also urged relevant authorities to continue strengthening the capacity of security agencies by providing them with appropriate platforms, equipment and other resources needed to perform their duties safely and effectively.
According to PSNAFSA, supporting those who protect the nation is a collective responsibility, and security personnel should not be left to confront increasingly complex threats without adequate institutional, operational and public support.
The group further urged Nigerians not to become desensitised to the sacrifices of security personnel who die in service, noting that “behind every fallen personnel is a family left to cope with the consequences of such losses.”
PSNAFSA prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed and asked God to grant their families, colleagues and friends the strength and comfort to bear the loss.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies, as well as promoting stronger public confidence, understanding and meaningful partnerships between security personnel and the communities they serve.
