R. Kelly jailed for 30 years over sex trafficking, racketeering

-

Popular American singer, Robert Sylvester Kelly, otherwise known as R Kelly, has bagged 30 years imprisonment for sex trafficking and racketeering.

The 55 years old crooner was sentenced for sex trafficking and sexually violating young girls.

He was finally convicted after a six-week trial. He was convicted by Judge Ann M. Donnelly of the Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday.

Some of the allegations raised against R. Kelly was that he deliberately misled his fans.

According to Wikipedia, “Throughout his career, Kelly has been repeatedly accused of sexual abuse with young adults and minors. He has faced multiple civil suits and has been indicted by criminal courts in Chicago, New York, Illinois, and Minnesota. He repeatedly denied the charges. In 1994, he illegally married his underage protégé Aaliyah. In 2002, he was indicted but eventually acquitted on 21 counts of making child pornography.”

After years of denial and protestations of innocence, Kelly was finally convicted on Wednesday.
