The Presidency has dismissed reports suggesting that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, resigned following the creation of the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security, says The Eagleonline
A senior security source close to the Presidency, who spoke anonymously to PRNigeria, described the claims as “false, baseless, and misleading.”
According to the source, the establishment of the new Homeland Security Office is not intended to replace or undermine the Office of the National Security Adviser, but rather to strengthen coordination and enhance the country’s internal security architecture.
The source explained that Ribadu remains fully in charge as NSA and continues to enjoy the confidence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The creation of the Homeland Security Office is designed to improve synergy among security and intelligence agencies, particularly on domestic security matters. It does not in any way affect the position or responsibilities of the NSA,” the source said.
The clarification follows widespread speculation on social media linking the newly created office to an alleged power shift within the Presidency’s security structure.
The Presidency, however, insisted that the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security coordination amid evolving security challenges across the country.
