Rights Lawyer Secures Release of Man Accused of Cloning Tinubu’s Voice as Police File Fresh Charges

-

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has announced the release of Ifechukwu Dennis, the young man accused of creating an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated voice note allegedly impersonating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Sowore, Dennis had spent time in police detention before being remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre over the allegations.

Sowore disclosed in a statement shared on his social media page that human rights lawyer Prince Wayne Chikeze secured Dennis’ release in court. He added that he was present during the court proceedings and confirmed that the defendant had reunited with his family.

However, Sowore alleged that the Nigeria Police Force has instituted fresh charges against Dennis at the Federal High Court, describing the move as a continuation of what he termed the young man’s ordeal.

He vowed to continue supporting Dennis’ legal battle, saying efforts would be made to challenge the new charges until the case is resolved.

Sowore further argued that young Nigerians should be encouraged to develop their talents and embrace innovation rather than face what he described as persecution.
