…Arrest Of An Ex-Convict, Recovery Of A Stolen Motorcycle

 

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber, who is alleged to be a cultist and recovered guns from him.

The Delta State Police spokesman, a Superintendent of Police, Bright Edafe, said that on the 16th of August, 202,5, at about 05:11 am,  while on a Stop and search along DBS Road, Asaba, stopped one Bassey Udoh,  39, of Custom Market, Asaba, carrying a cross bag.

Edafe said: “The Suspect, on sighting the Police, became uncomfortable, and this prompted the Police men to search him on the spot. Upon the search of the suspect, an English Beretta pistol was recovered.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is part of a syndicate that usually breaks into people’s homes and cart away their properties, and he bought the gun for the sum of thirty thousand naira (N30,000).  Suspect is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”

The Delta State Command, under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has continued to record one success after another in the fight against crime and criminality.

The Policing strategy of CP Olufemi is an intelligence-driven one who promotes police that promotes proactive and not reactive policing.

All officers, DPOs, and heads of formations have been mandated to key into this policing strategy and ensure that their Areas of responsibility are adequately Policed.

In another operation, the Command arrested an ex-convict and a robbery suspect, and recovered stolen items.

Edafe explained that on the 1st of August, 2025, at about 3:30  pmpatroltroll Team of  Eagle-Net Special Squad Asaba, while on visibility patrol, received a distressed call on a missing motorcycle.

In a combined effort with some members of Nigeria Hunters Security Services (NFSS), they arrested one Precious Okoro, 27, of ULO Street, Asaba, Buhari Deyegu, 18 years of Ibusa road, Asaba and the missing motorcycle was recovered.

The said suspect is an ex-convict who was released from Ogwashi-uku correctional facility 6th of August 2025 after completing his jail term of two years for a similar offence of stealing a motorcycle.

The suspect went back to steal another motorcycle just five days after returning from prison. Investigation was extended to the suspect’s residence, where a search warrant was executed, and one Tiger Generator, one big fireman generator one iron measuring scale were recovered. Suspect is in custody.
