A joint special operation involving personnel from the Office of the National Security Adviser, troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, alongside local vigilantes and hunters, has successfully dismantled three major bandit camps in Kogi State.
In a press statement issued by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), the camps operated by notorious bandit leader Kachalla Babangida were overrun with superior firepower. Coordinated airstrikes and ground offensives led to the neutralisation of scores of bandits.
The statement confirmed that several kidnap victims were rescued during the operation. The State Government has since moved the victims to medical facilities for treatment, after which they will be transferred to IDP camps before being reunited with their families.
Commander Omodara commended the gallantry of the officers involved and assured them of the State Government’s continued support in the fight against banditry and terrorism. He urged residents to cooperate with security agencies to ensure that ongoing clearance operations deliver a decisive blow against criminal elements in the state.
