The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of a security guard in connection with the gruesome murder of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu in Anambra State.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Delta State Command, SP Edafe Bright, the arrest was made on December 6, 2025.
Operatives of the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID), Delta State Police Command, acting on intelligence, arrested the suspect, Godwin Mngumi, aged 25 years. Mngumi, who was employed as a security guard, allegedly confessed to the crime.
The police have successfully recovered the mobile phone belonging to the late retired Justice from him. Mngumi confessed that he invited his friend, Nnaji Obalum, and one other suspect, who is currently at large, over to the house where they carried out the dastardly act together. Nnaji Obalum has also been apprehended.
“He confessed that he invited his friend, Nnaji Obalum and one other suspect at large over to the house where they carried out the dastardly act together,” stated SP Edafe Bright.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed that the manhunt for the third suspect is ongoing. The investigation aims to uncover the full details surrounding the motive and execution of the murder of the late retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu.
