A violent altercation between two police officers at Iju Division has left an inspector with serious injuries.
According to official reports, Inspector Aminu Nuhu, who had just completed a night guard duty, engaged in a dispute with Constable Lateef Afeez, assigned to the morning guard shift.
The confrontation escalated when the inspector allegedly stoned the constable. In retaliation, Constable Afeez fired a riot gun at close range, striking Inspector Nuhu in the face. The inspector sustained grievous injuries to his mouth and right cheek.
He was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Ifako for treatment, then referred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, for further medical care.
Authorities confirmed that Constable Afeez has been arrested, disarmed, and detained. The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for discreet investigation.
