Sokoto Police Eliminates Two Suspected Bandits, Foils Attack In Illela LGA

-

The Sokoto State Police Command has eliminated two suspected bandits in a gun duel after successfully foiling an attack on Dankadu Village in Illela Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, the bandits were advancing from the Tsauana Forest toward the community when operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Volunteer Constabulary, and Rescue Unit, alongside other tactical teams, intercepted them.

The statement noted that several bandits fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. A subsequent clearance operation led to the neutralisation of two suspects and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and 54 rounds of live ammunition.

In a related development, the Command arrested key suspects linked to motorcycle theft syndicates operating across the Sokoto metropolis.

The suspects were apprehended during targeted operations in the Kwannawa, Tamaje, Mabera, and Mana areas. Operatives recovered several stolen motorcycles and a fabricated pistol during the raids.

Investigations are ongoing, and security forces are intensifying efforts to track down and apprehend fleeing members of the syndicates.

The Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, Hassan Hayatu Shaffa, commended the operatives for their professionalism, bravery, and swift action. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eradicating banditry and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
