Soldiers, Police Inspector, Killed, Others Injured After Ambush By Terrorists in Zamfara

-

At least five military personnel, including Inspector Aliyu Ibrahim of the 1 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Kaduna, were killed on Monday after their convoy was ambushed by terrorists in  Zamfara State.

SaharaReporters reported that the victims were attached to Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFYM) in Gusau. According to a press statement from the 1 PMF Kaduna unit, the officers were on official pass and travelling to Gusau from Bingi Kwatarkwashi in Kwatarkwashi Local Government Area when the attack occurred.

The statement said the assailants opened fire on the personnel during the journey, resulting in multiple fatalities. Details on the exact location of the ambush and whether there were survivors were not immediately disclosed.

Zamfara State has remained a hotspot of violent attacks linked to armed groups, despite ongoing military and police operations aimed at restoring security across the North-West region.
