Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has said he led a protest at the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja to demand the release of detained whistleblower, Justice Chidiebere Mark, popularly known as “Justice Crack.”
In a statement shared on social media on May 4, Sowore said the action was taken in response to what he described as the “unjust remand” of Mark by a judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
“We moved immediately to occupy the premises of the Federal Ministry of Justice, demanding urgent intervention from the Attorney General of the Federation,” he said.
Sowore criticised the court’s decision to remand Mark in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), arguing that it was excessive and a misuse of judicial authority.
“The court’s decision to remand a civilian whistleblower in DSS custody is not only excessive but represents a dangerous abuse of judicial authority,” he added.
