The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 27-year-old Kevin, who allegedly murdered the mother of his two children in June 2024. The suspect, who fled after the incident, was tracked down and detained at the Delta State Police Headquarters.
In a viral video released by the Command, Kevin is heard responding to questions from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent Bright Edafe. Kevin confessed to killing the victim, identified as Excellence, by striking her forehead three times with a hammer.
The suspect revealed that the fatal altercation stemmed from his suspicion that Excellence was engaged in “hook-ups,” a term often used to describe transactional sexual relationships.
Speaking on the circumstances surrounding the incident, Edafe said:
“Between June 26th and 27th, social media was awash with reports of the death of a lady named Excellence. It was alleged that the suspect used a hammer to kill her. He initially escaped, but has since been arrested and is now in custody at the Delta State Police Headquarters.”
Detailing the events that led to her death, the suspect stated:
“Her name is Excellence. I’ve known her for six years. She was the mother of my two sons, aged three and two. She came to my house wearing a vegan dress and brought another one to change into.
We started arguing over her involvement in hook-ups. She picked up a knife; I grabbed a hammer. I managed to wrest the knife from her, but she bit me. I then hit her on the forehead three times. She collapsed. I tried to lift her, but she was already dead.”
He further admitted to being under the influence at the time:
“On that day, I took 200 milligrams of tramadol and smoked loud. I believe it was the tramadol and loud drug that made me kill Excellence.”
The suspect also confessed to engaging in cybercrime and farming.
