Suspect infiltrates shops, carts away wares valued over N795,000

A suspected thief, identified as Shita Monsuru, has been arrested by Policemen attached to  Imasayi Division, Ogun State.

The downfall of Monsuru began after traders at Abule-Oke discovered that someone had been breaking into their shops to cart away their wares.

The traders reported the theft to the police, and an investigation was launched. Monsuru was soon arrested and the police said he had confessed to the theft.

The police also said that items recovered from Monsuru include,  one grinding machine, one 6kg gas cylinder and two 3kg gas cylinders.

According to the Police, some of the recovered items were those carted away from the shops of the traders.

A Situation Report sighted by The Eagle Online stated that it was a case of breaking and stealing.

The SITREP further states: “ On 24th of November at about 11:30 am, one Adebiyi Abayomi and one Ishola Tunde, both of Abule-Oke village via Imasayi, reported at the station that some items were stolen from their shops located at Abule-Oke village via Imasayi.

“The complainant stated further that he got to his shop at Abule-Oke where he was selling gas and discovered that his shop was broken into from the back and the thieves entered the shop and carted away two 6kg gas cylinders, two 5kg gas cylinders, 3kg gas cylinder.

“While Ishola Tunde stated that on the 20th of November, 2023, he got to his shop and discovered that welding machine, sledgehammer, side pillar of truck, generator tyre, saw blade, 6kg gas cylinder were stolen and that on the 22nd of November 2023,  the thief also stole vice machine and table.

“ On the 24th of November, 2023, the grinding machine was stolen. All items stolen were valued at N795,000. Upon receiving this report, detectives from the station swung into action and through an intelligence-led investigation,  one Shita Monsuru was arrested.

“One grinding machine, one 6kg gas cylinder and two 3kg gas cylinders were recovered from the suspect. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining stolen items. The suspect admitted the commission of the crime and will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.”
