Suspected cultist assists Police to recover seven guns

The Delta State Police Command said it has arrested a suspected cultist and recovered seven guns.

The suspect, Kingsley Vejeta, who is also alleged to be an armed robber, was arrested on the 23rd of February, 2023 at about 10:30 PM.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, said that  Operatives of Agbarho Division led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Habu Haman, received credible information about the suspected armed robber, who is also a cultist. The suspect it was further alleged, had been terrorising Agbarho, Ughelli and the environs.

Edafe said: “The operatives, in a combined effort with the community vigilantes, stormed his hideout and arrested the said suspect. During the investigation and interrogation of the suspect, he made a useful statement and he led the Police to the hideout of his other gang members at Ekrehavwe, Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area where on sighting the Police, they took to their heels. Seven locally-made cut-to-size guns, and four live cartridges were recovered. Manhunt for the other fleeing suspects is ongoing.”
