Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, has called on Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos state, to tackle Impunity, Bribery and corruption being perpetuated by some corrupt officials of the various agencies in the state.

CLO, in a press conference held yesterday in Lago, disclosed that as far as Lagos is concerned, the governor has performed creditably well in the economy, health, security, eeducationon infrastructural development, transportation and unemployment, delivering democracy dividends to Lagosians.

Comrade Joseph Enitan, chairman and Comrade Abdulhakeem Adesina, secretary, respectively of the organisation however stated that despite the good intentions of the governor, who has been having sleepless nights to ensure that he delivered on his promises, some unscrupulous enemies of then state working at various ministries, agencies and parastatals were also working round the clock with high level on Impunity to intimidate extort, and coarse Lagosians to enrich their pockets to the detriment of the state.

CLO zeroed in on the Lagos state taskforce and disclosed that on April 25, 2024, some masked taskforce officials arrived Obawole community, which is not restricted from the Okada ban and impounded over 25 commercial motorcycles, popularly known as okadas, where the owners were coerced into parting with bribes ranging from N20,000 to N50,000.

A copy of the signed press statement made available to our correspondent reveals that the action of the mask taskforce officials was illegal and contrary to section 46 and schedule section 326, subsection 19 of the Transport Sector Reforms Law, 2018 of Lagos State.

CLO, however, named Mr Joseph Sunday Babatunde, the outgoing chairman of Orile Agege, as one of the many patriotic and selfless officials of Lagos, who emerged as the best executive chairman of local government in Nigeria. Other performing officials of the state, according to CLO, were Mr Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, chief of staff to the governor, Mr Sholanke Isiaka, CEO of Lagos state development and property corporation, Mrs. Fadeyi Rita Adeyinka, assistant director of nursing who works at the family medicine department of the Lagos state university teaching hospital, LASUTH among others.
