The Africa Centre For Development Journalism announces the Scholarship Award for brilliant indigent undergraduate students from the Lagos State University (LASU). Students are to submit applications.
Applicants must have spent one full academic session at the University, with evidence of good academic performance and justification for deserving financial support to complete the academic programme.
The scholarship is open to students of Communication and Media Studies, especially those with an eye on a future career in developmental and data journalism.
The scholarship was established in honour of the late Rotimi Sankore, who lived from June 6, 1968, to April 12, 2024.
He was a distinguished journalist, data analyst, and radio presenter who became a brand name in the use of data to review and project national trends and developments.
Sponsored by another distinguished journalist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Kadaria Ahmed, the scholarship award will cover tuition fees and accommodation costs. Interested students should submit their applications in writing, providing a concise 200-word statement explaining why the selection panel should consider and nominate them.
Send all applications and supporting documents to rotimisankoreawards@yahoo.com by *May 1, 2025*. The panel will only contact the shortlisted candidates for a physical interview.
The Panel Chairman for this Scholarship Award is Mr Lanre Arogundade, who is also the executive director of the International Press Centre (IPC).
