…Police Recover 18 Rounds Of Ammunition
The Delta State Police Command said it has neutralised three suspected armed robbers after passengers in a shuttle bus opened fire on a team of police operatives.
The Command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, while confirming the incident, said that on the 27th of May, at about 11:35 pm, while conducting a covert surveillance patrol along Ughelli – Patani Road, operatives of CP – Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) led by the Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Robinson Julius flagged down an approaching shuttle bus by Ewhereni Junction.
Edafe stated: “Upon sighting the operatives, the occupants of the said vehicle opened fire in a bid to escape, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire.
During the gun duel, three of the suspects sustained serious gunshot injuries while others escaped. The injured suspects were taken to the hospital, where they died while receiving treatment. One AK-47 rifle loaded with 18 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from them.”
