President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a defiant message to insurgent groups following a series of coordinated terror strikes in Borno State, describing the attacks as the “final desperate and frantic attempts” of a failing enemy.
In a statement released Tuesday by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President directed Nigeria’s top security chiefs to immediately relocate to Maiduguri to personally oversee the stabilisation of the region.
The President’s address comes in the wake of Monday’s attacks targeting military positions, strikes that the presidency maintains were successfully repelled by patriotic troops. President Tinubu framed the recent violence not as a sign of insurgent strength but as a reaction to the sustained military pressure currently being applied across various theatres of operation.
“I want to make it categorically clear that these acts of terror are the final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil and spread fear,” the President stated. “There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them.”
Highlighting a recent surge in military investment, the President revealed that he had approved a significant boost in resources during a high-level security summit over the weekend. This includes the approval of additional advanced equipment and operational support for intelligence and security agencies, an effort he noted is already in progress.
In addition to the immediate deployment of security chiefs to the front lines, the President issued directives to emergency agencies to ensure comprehensive care for those injured in the strikes. He praised the “fighting spirit” of the military and civilian task forces, asserting that the nation would not be intimidated by the recent bloodshed.
“Our gallant military and civilian task forces will curtail and put them down,” Tinubu said. “Nigeria will not succumb to fear.”
Extending his condolences to the people of Borno, the President expressed profound grief over the loss of life, noting that the news from the state remains “profoundly upsetting.” He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to intensifying efforts against criminal elements “wherever they may be.”
The move to send Security Chiefs to the epicentre of the conflict marks a significant escalation in the federal government’s tactical response, signalling an “all-hands-on-deck” approach to reclaiming total security in the Northeast. #Securitynewsalert.com
