Train, BRT accident: NSCDC commandant visits victims in LASUTH

The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, on the 9th March 2023, to join the Nigeria Police Force and other services in the state, to embark on a show of force within the nooks and crannies of the state, in response to the unfortunate accident, involving a train and a bus conveying passengers, heading to their place of work.

According to preliminary information, the operatives of the Command, who were closer to the scene, confirmed that the passenger bus heading to Alausa Secretariat, carrying staff working with the State Government, had rammed into the rail lines, before they responded immediately.

The accident was reported to have occurred,  at about 07:20hrs, at PWD bus stop, along Oshodi – Apapa road, Lagos, where many passengers were injured at the scene as at the time operatives responded to the scene, after which victims were immediately taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital ( LASUTH ), for further proper medical attention and adequate care provided by the Lagos State Government.

 

The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, has also immediately ordered the Disaster and Crisis Management Team of the Command to respond to the scene for further mop up rescue operation and protection of lives and property of our esteemed citizens and good people of Lagos State .

Alfadarai, also joined the Executive Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo – Olu and the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat, who visited the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, located at Ikeja, earlier today, to see the victims by himself and ascertain the state of their medical situation immediately after the ugly incident occurred.

The operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Fire Service and LASEMA et ce tera were also very visible at the scene to ensure collective rescue operations of valuable lives and property .

Alfadarai condoled with the Lagos State government, and families of victims of the accident and assured the good people of the state of timely response to emergency operations, while also avowing his readiness to continue to work assiduously with relevant agencies to avert such occurrences, through sensitization of drivers and road users.
