Troops Arrest Terror Suspects, Disrupt Boko Haram Supply Networks in North East

-

Nigerian military forces operating under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded a series of counter-terrorism breakthroughs across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States, with multiple arrests, weapons recoveries, and the disruption of logistics networks supplying Boko Haram and ISWAP elements in the North East.

The Joint Task Force (North East), operating alongside Operation DESERT SANITY V and Forest Guards, intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics supplier at Benisheikh Market. The suspect, identified as Girema Aliko, 40, was arrested while allegedly transporting 30 litres of fuel believed to be destined for insurgents. He reportedly confessed to supplying fuel and other materials to terrorist groups.

A second logistics suspect, Mohammed Bulama, 25, was arrested at Ngawom, Muna Garage in Maiduguri, with preliminary investigations confirming ties to terrorist elements. Authorities say he has agreed to cooperate with ongoing operations.

In a separate development, troops apprehended a soldier who had deserted his unit. Private Umar Bema of the 50 Task Force Battalion was arrested within Maiduguri after going absent without leave with his personal weapon. Investigators allege he engaged in robbery during his absence. His rifle and magazines were recovered.

Further operations in the Gubio axis led to the arrest of another suspected supplier caught transporting large quantities of food items allegedly intended for insurgents, while a suspect arrested in Biu Local Government Area reportedly confessed to kidnapping, cattle rustling, and links between criminal networks and terrorist groups.

In Adamawa State, two suspected ISWAP members were arrested alongside local hunters and confessed to participating in attacks and abductions across Borno and Adamawa States. Meanwhile, a Boko Haram/ISWAP fighter surrendered with two children in the Kukawa axis, citing sustained military pressure.

Offensive operations in the Damboa axis uncovered several abandoned terrorist camps, with rocket-propelled grenade bombs and PKT ammunition recovered at the sites.

Thirteen detainees were handed over to civilian authorities for prosecution.

In a statement, Media Information Officer Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba said the operations had “significantly disrupted terrorist networks, weakened their logistics base, and reduced their capacity to operate freely,” adding that troop morale remained high. #Securitynewsalert.com
