Troops Rescue Kidnap Victims, Intercept Suspected Gun Runner in Plateau, Kaduna

-

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued two kidnapped victims and intercepted a suspected gun runner in separate operations across Plateau and Kaduna states, military authorities said on Tuesday.

According to the Joint Task Force, the rescue took place during an aggressive patrol around Kukawa in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State. The troops reportedly engaged suspected criminals who were moving the abducted victims to their hideout.

The military said the suspects fled on sighting the troops. “Troops of Operation Enduring Peace deployed at Wase successfully rescued two kidnapped victims around Kukawa in Kanam Local Government Area during an aggressive fighting patrol of the area,” the statement said. “The criminals abandoned the victims and fled into nearby bushes when they made contact with the troops.”

Preliminary findings indicated that the victims had earlier been abducted at gunpoint on February 22, 2026, from Mansur village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The task force said the victims had been debriefed and efforts were underway to reunite them with their families. It added that troops had continued combing nearby bushes to apprehend the fleeing suspects and possibly rescue other abducted victims.

In a related development, troops deployed at Sanga in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State intercepted a suspected gun runner during a stop-and-search operation at Kurmin Goro village.

“The 36-year-old suspect, identified as Vincent Ibrahim, was intercepted while conveying five fabricated rifles to an undisclosed location in Kafanchan,” the statement said, adding that the suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing interrogation.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, commended the troops for their alertness and decisive action.

He assured residents of the troops’ continued resolve to safeguard lives and property within the joint operations area. #Securitynewsalert.com
