Troops Sustain Pressure on Terrorists in North West, Record Major Gains North West, Nigeria

-

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), Joint Task Force North West, have intensified coordinated offensives across the Joint Operations Area, maintaining relentless pressure on terrorist elements and achieving significant breakthroughs during operations conducted between January 21 and 22, 2026.
According to a statement by Captain David Adewusi, Media Information Officer for OPFY, troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, supported by Department of State Services (DSS) assets, engaged terrorists in Gundumi Village, Isa Local Government Area.

In the encounter, one terrorist was neutralised while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles from the scene.

In a separate operation, troops from 1 Brigade, working alongside the Headquarters JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team, acted swiftly on credible intelligence that injured terrorists were receiving treatment in Bingi Forest.

The troops uncovered and destroyed a makeshift medical facility used by the terrorists, delivering a major blow to their support system and further demonstrating the effectiveness of OPFY’s operational response.

Captain Adewusi emphasised that the continued successes of these operations highlight the unwavering determination of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to decisively degrade terrorist networks and restore peace and security across the North West.
