Two APC Members Arrested Over Alleged Theft in Ogun

Two members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were reportedly arrested, questioned, and briefly detained by the police in Ifo, Ogun State, concerning the alleged theft of lubricating oil.

The suspects, identified as Peter, also known as ‘Akilapa,’ and Geoffrey, were apprehended following a tip-off at their residences near the Mathew bus stop along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

Sources indicate that the duo, who work as security guards attached to Globacom (Glo) mast stations in Ifo, allegedly stole gallons of Blackpool oil designated for powering the masthead at the station.

The police from the Ifo division reportedly stormed Peter’s residence. Peter, who also works as a vulcaniser and is described as a staunch member of APC Ifo Constituency 1, was subsequently arrested, questioned, and detained at the station.

A close source alleged that the two suspects had been involved in this illicit dealing for some time and had possibly made thousands of naira before being caught.

However, a police source revealed that the suspects were released after they promised to refund the full cost of the stolen property.

“The suspects were allowed to go home after promising to pay the sum of N100,000 each in the next few months,” the police source stated.

Efforts to reach the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer for an official statement were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
