Why we demolished 13 buildings in Ajao Estate -Lagos Government

-

Agents of the Lagos State government have demolished 13 buildings on Rockview Street, Ajao Estate, Lagos.

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), while justifying its action said the structures did not have the necessary approvals and violated the law guiding physical developments within the airport environment.

The agency said the government had earlier issued a stop work notice to owners of the buildings and engaged them in a series of fruitless peace meetings, as the landlords refused to stop the construction work.

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) explained that the built-up area was acquired by the government for public use as part of the Muritala Mohammed International Airport.

FAAN further explained that the affected buildings were built close to the perimeter fence of the airport.
