The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a father, Daniel Chigozie, who connived with his doctor to sell his biological child for N400,000 without the knowledge of his ‘wife.’

The incident, which happened in the Oke-Odo area of the state, has left many gasping in shock. The distraught mother of the baby was said to have been sleeping when Chigozie stole the baby. Incidentally, the couple is just lovers and not legally married

Those arrested along with Chigozie are the doctor, Musa Peter. It was gathered that it was the doctor, who sourced a buyer for Chigozie. The buyer has been identified as Ezeobi Chinneye, while the nurse who assisted the doctor in the transaction is called Ezeoke Chinneye.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, stated this on his Twitter handle.

He tweeted: “A father connived with his doctor and a nurse, sold his three months old baby to a woman for N400,000 without the knowledge of the mother. After days of searching, the police were informed. All suspects have been arrested. The baby is safe and the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba is to prosecute the suspects.”

Hundeyin further explains: “The baby was sold on the 20th of August 2022.  The father of the baby admitted to the crime. He did not deny it.”

A reliable source told our reporter that the mother of the baby has asked the police to give her baby and allow her lover to go Scot free, that she did not want legal issues, including going to court.
