Yusuf, Kano Police Chief Vow Stronger Security Partnership, Final Push Against Political Thuggery

-

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the Nigeria Police to sustain peace and security across the state, as efforts intensify to eliminate political thuggery.

The governor gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, at the police headquarters in Kano.

According to a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the state government and the police command, while reinforcing cooperation and understanding.

Governor Yusuf said insecurity was one of the major challenges he encountered upon assuming office, noting that the situation has significantly improved under the leadership of CP Bakori.

“Kano belongs to all of us, and political differences should never be an excuse to compromise the security of lives and property,” the governor said.

He stressed that politicians must rise above partisan interests when it comes to public safety, adding that security issues must remain non-negotiable.

“As politicians, we may belong to different platforms, but on matters of security, we must unite under one umbrella for the good of Kano,” Yusuf stated.

The governor also promised additional logistics and institutional support for the police, assuring the command of his administration’s continued backing. He said residents of the state were fully aware of, and appreciative of, the efforts of the police in maintaining peace.

In his response, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, described the governor’s visit as a clear demonstration of commitment, goodwill and support for the police.

“The continuous support, encouragement and guidance from His Excellency since he assumed office have greatly contributed to the successes recorded by the command,” Bakori said.

He reaffirmed the police command’s resolve to work closely with the state government to ensure sustained peace and security across Kano State.

During the visit, the Commissioner of Police also paraded three suspects alleged to be connected to the killing of a mother and her children in the Dorayi-Chiranci area of Kano a few days ago, as investigations continue.
