The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested one of the Most Wanted bandits in Nigeria, called Isiyaku Babangida, a native of Kabe Village in the state.
He was arrested following a protracted gun battle between the police and bandits.
Items recovered during the operation are two AK 47 rifles, two fabricated guns and 236 7.62mm rounds of live ammunition.
This was also as the Tactical Unit of the command foiled a planned attack on some communities in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas by a bandit group led by one Alhaji Bello.
The Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mohammed Shehu, revealed that the anti-banditry patrol acting on intelligence information swung into action and moved into the nearby bandit’s enclaves.
Subsequently, there was a serious gun battle between the bandits and the Police operatives. The superior firepower of the Police successfully dislodged the bandits, a situation that forced them to flee with possible gunshot wounds.
