36 PMF Personnel Foil Bandits’ Attack in Kebbi, Recover 141 Rustled Livestock

-

Personnel of the No. 36 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Birnin Kebbi, have successfully repelled a bandits’ attack on Zodi village in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, recovering 141 livestock and two motorcycles in the process.

The incident occurred on 29 November 2025 at about 7:30 a.m., when a large number of armed bandits stormed the community and rustled an unspecified number of animals. Upon receiving the distress report, officers deployed for “Operation Restore Peace” swiftly responded, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun duel.

The police said the PMF personnel’s rapid and strategic response forced the bandits to retreat into the forest with multiple casualties. Some of the fleeing attackers were believed to have escaped with fatal gunshot wounds.

During a follow-up search of the surrounding forest, officers recovered 96 cows, 45 sheep, and two motorcycles. The livestock were subsequently handed over to the village head of Zodi for safe return to their rightful owners, while the motorcycles were transferred to the Divisional Police Officer in Zuru for further investigation and efforts to identify and apprehend their owners.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the gallant efforts of the 36 PMF personnel, urging them to maintain the momentum in the fight against banditry and other violent crimes. He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
