The Bauchi Police Command in a combined operation, with a quasi-security in the state, has arrested four suspects for alleged robbery and terrorizing communities in the state.

According to the State’s Police spokesman, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, on  23rd January 2024 at about 3 am, a team of detectives attached to ‘C’ Division Headquarters in collaboration with a quasi-security outfit on visibility policing patrol arrested the following suspects Musbahu Umar, 23, Salim Hamisu, 30, Sadiq Nura aka Abba 22, Abubakar Aliyu, 22 and Mohammed Mohammed AKA Abba, 20, all of Unguwan Shongel and Tirwun areas respectively.

He added: “During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the offence. Investigation revealed that the suspect was from Kano State. He rented two houses at Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters after coming to Bauchi through Jamilu Isah Yankaba Kano State to connive with other members of the gang and terrorize Bauchi communities, particularly Shehu Wunti Housing Quarters.

“The suspects armed with dangerous weapons criminally conspired among themselves and trespassed into a house belonging to one Dr. Kabiru Umar of Shehu Wunti Quarters Bauchi, and attempted to rob him of his car, a Peugeot dark-blue in colour and other valuable items. But they were chased and arrested.”

The following items were recovered from the suspects; two empty white leaders of new matchets, one Honda Car with ignition key, and two Qlink motorcycle ignition keys were recovered.

The image manager said that an investigation is ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining gang members, after which the defendants will be profiled and charged in court for the established offences.
