Kebbi Police Recovers N3m Ransom, Arrests  Suspected Kidnapper, Neutralizes 4

The Kebbi State Police Command said it has recovered N3 million ransom, killed four suspected kidnappers and arrested one among the fleeing suspects.

The Police spokesman in the State, a Chief Superintendent of Police, Nafiu Abubakar, explained that on the 14th February, 2025 at about 1:45pm, armed men suspected to be kidnappers invaded Gobiraje village in Suru LGA of Kebbi State, and kidnapped 60-year-old Umaru Bawa.

Abubakar said: “On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in charge of Suru Division, aggressively mobilised a team of Policemen and vigilantes to the scene, trailed the suspects at Tundafari forest in Dakingari axis and engaged them in a gun duel.

“Consequently, four of the kidnappers were neutralized, one arrested with fatal injuries while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.

“Similarly, the Police successfully rescued the kidnapped victim unhurt and recovered the sum of  N3000000:00 already paid to the kidnappers as ransom.

Regarding the tremendous successes recorded by the Police Officers in Suru, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani commended their resilience, professionalism, and gallantry performances and reiterated the Command’s determination in combating crimes in the State.

“The CP also appealed to the peace-loving people of Kebbi State to always be security conscious and report any suspicious movement to the nearest Police station for prompt response.”
