The Buluma Law Hub has called on the Ondo State Commissioner of Police to launch an investigation into the attempt of three boys to kill Nkechi Anierobi.

In a petition signed by A.K Akinbuluma of Buluma Law Hub, the human rights lawyer alleged a case of assault occasioning grievous harm, attempted rape and murder of his client by some hoodlums with the aid of their parent.

Akinbuluma in the petition addressed to the Area Commander of the Okitipupa Command Headquarters of Ondo State, said: “Ever since Nkechi relocated to Okitipupa to stay with her cousin, Mr Taiwo John, some three boys have been threatening her life because they want to take advantage of her. The ugly incident occurred on the 3rd of September, 2022 at about 1:30 pm when the boys attacked NKechi in question. They went to the extent of beating Nkechi with sticks. A neighbour opposite the boys’ house held Nkechi down, allowing the boys to inflict injuries on her.”

The victim’s mom, her cousin Taiwo and his friends, Taiwo Akinbodun and Juwon Sola attempted to rescue her but were chased away by the boys who wielded machetes.

Akinbuluma said it was strange that the police arrested Nkechi, Taiwo and Juwon, rather than the machete-wielding boys.

He further noted: “The boys in question are walking Scot free on the streets and have intensified their threats on the lives of Nkechi. For the cause of Justice to prevail, it is pertinent for the Police and the other authorities in the corridors of Justice to conduct a full-scale investigation into the matter to unravel the whole truth.”
