Lagos Police Smashes Syndicate Specialised In Stealing Foreign Currencies, ATM Cards, Passports

The Lagos State Police Command has smashed a syndicate which allegedly specialised in stealing foreign currencies, jewelry, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Card and Passports.

The Lagos State Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin said that on the 25th of February 2025, based on an intelligence report received by operatives of the State Criminal Investigations Department *SCID), Panti, Yaba, about the activities of a syndicate that specializes in robbing victims of their valuables such as local and foreign currencies, jewellery, phones, ATM cards and passports of various countries.

Hundeyin said: “Armed detectives were duly mobilised on the 14th of March 2025, trailed some of the syndicate members to Iju Ishaja area the following suspects Idowu Ajewole, Waheed Opeyemi, Samuel Bamidele, Ajoke Oluwaseun,  Layide Ogunseun, and Adetipe Olubunmi, were swiftly arrested with two Toyota Camry cars with some fake dollar notes all suspects have made useful statements and in custody their arraignment in court follows.

In another development, the Command arrested suspected armed robbers and recovered an automatic pistol.

Hundeyin said that on the 14th of March, 2024, at about 4:am, policemen while on early hour patrol, arrested two suspected armed robbers namely one Emmanuel Cletus, 32, and Adegor Joshua, 27, at Sangotedo along Lekki-Epe Expressway. One automatic pistol and five live ammunition were recovered.

The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation for possible prosecution.
