Libya:  Mentally deranged, sick Nigerians among 158 returnees

Nigerians with mental issues and some suffering from ill health were among the 158 stranded Nigerians from Libya, received by the Nigeria National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Out of the returnees, four were brought back with various degrees of health challenges, three of them are females, one of the ladies had serious burns, two other ladies had serious mental health issues, and a young man with a fractured leg.

The returnees were composed of 49 adult females, seven female children, and five female infants. There were also 83 male adults, six male children, and eight male infants, bringing the figure to 61 females and 97 males altogether.

The returnees who arrived aboard Al Buraq Air Boeing 737 – 800 with Registration number 5A-DMG at 1715 hours at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos State were received on arrival at the tarmac by the officials of NEMA, International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Nigeria Immigration Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migration, and Internally displaced Persons and National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

The Director-General of NEMA, Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed, represented by the NEMA Lagos Territorial Office Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, assured the returnees that the Federal Government was not relenting in making the youths have level playing grounds where they could achieve their potentials in whatever fields they choose.
