Killing of Christians: Sowore Warns Against US Military Intervention in Nigeria

-

Prominent activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore has issued a stark warning against recent rhetoric from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the potential for military action in Nigeria, allegedly to protect Christians.

Sowore, writing on social media, called the prospect “perilous” and urged Nigerians across all faiths not to celebrate such threats.

Sowore’s strongly worded statement emphasises that the history of U.S. and allied military interventions shows a pattern of leaving nations more unstable, citing failures to secure peace in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria.

“Whether you are Christian, Muslim, animist, or non-religious, no one should celebrate such rhetoric,” Sowore stated. “They failed to secure peace… and they won’t bring salvation to Nigeria through bombs or boots on the ground.”

The core of Sowore’s argument is that Nigeria’s salvation must come from within. He asserts that the nation’s true need is not a “foreign saviour,” but rather “legitimate, accountable leadership, one that protects all citizens, upholds justice, and ends the cycles of corruption and violence” that have plagued the country.

In a direct challenge to the U.S. President’s motives, Sowore claimed: “@realDonaldTrump does not care about Nigerians—not Christians, Muslims, or anyone else.”

He concluded with a rallying cry for self-determination and national renewal, explicitly rejecting established political figures like “the Tinubus of this world.” Sowore maintained that Nigeria’s deliverance “must come from within, through real leadership… and national renewal,” linking the call to his ongoing movement with the hashtag #RevolutionNow.
