Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers in Ka’oje, Rescue Teen Victim Unhurt

-

In a decisive operation led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ka’oje, Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued a 14-year-old boy unharmed.

The operation also led to the recovery of a locally made revolver pistol and ammunition.
According to a police report, the incident began on October 18, 2025, at approximately 12:10 a.m., when a gang of five armed men stormed the residence of Alhaji Buda Sambo, 55, in Sire Here village, Bagudo Local Government Area, and abducted his son, Aliyu Alhaji Buda.
Acting on credible intelligence, the DPO mobilised a joint team of police officers and local vigilantes who tracked the kidnappers to Sada forest.

A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the criminals to flee deeper into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds.

During the ongoing search and rescue efforts, two suspects, Aliyu Alhaji Shehu (alias Altine), 25, and Abubakar Umaru (alias Bube), both from Orda village, were apprehended. The kidnapped boy was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family after receiving medical attention.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to the kidnapping and identified four accomplices: Dogo, Magaji, Bande, and Janyo, who remain at large. They also admitted to a separate kidnapping incident on October 28, involving 70-year-old Alhaji Alti of Orda village.

A search of Altine’s residence led to the recovery of a locally made revolver pistol and one round of ammunition.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the swift and professional response of the Ka’oje police team. He urged continued collaboration between law enforcement and local communities to combat rising kidnapping and violent crimes in the region.

The CP has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation and to apprehend the remaining suspects.

In a public appeal, CP Sani encouraged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and proactive in sharing timely and accurate information with security agencies.
