Serial Taxi Driver Arrested in Lagos for Multiple Rape, Assault Cases

-

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a suspected serial rapist and armed robber, Adedayo Ben Adegbola, following a series of viral online posts and victim reports linking him to multiple violent crimes across the state.

According to a statement released by SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adegbola was arrested on October 31, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m. by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.

The arrest followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the disturbing complaints lodged by several female victims.

Adegbola, identified by some of the survivors as the driver featured in widely circulated social media posts, is accused of committing multiple acts of rape, defilement, indecent assault, and armed robbery targeting female passengers.

The suspect allegedly used a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT to carry out these crimes. The vehicle has since been recovered and secured as evidence for prosecution.
The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue to identify and apprehend other individuals who may have been involved.

The Command has called on additional victims to come forward and assist with the investigation, assuring them that their identities will be protected.
Commissioner Jimoh reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding residents and ensuring justice for survivors. He emphasised that updates on the case will be shared as the investigation progresses.

For further information or to report relevant details, victims are encouraged to contact the SCID, Panti.
