FCT Police, PCRC Advocate for Enhanced Community Synergy to Bolster Security

-

The Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, Miller Dantawaye, alongside the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has issued a formal appeal to citizens to actively back government initiatives aimed at upgrading the nation’s security architecture.

During the PCRC FCT chapter’s first quarterly meeting of 2026, held with the FCT Police Command management, officials emphasised that strengthening security infrastructure is a vital prerequisite for national safety and development.

Commissioner Dantawaye highlighted the evolving legacy of the PCRC, noting its transition from a period of historical mistrust to a collaborative bridge between the public and law enforcement. He identified neighborhood intelligence drives, patrol support, and youth sensitization campaigns as the primary methods through which the PCRC has built this cooperation.

The Commissioner underscored that citizen-driven intelligence now serves as a primary pillar of the current national security strategy, acting as a foundation for a shared vision of safety.

Professor Rufus Ebegba, Chairman of the PCRC FCT, framed security as the essential bedrock for economic growth, social stability, and overall national prosperity. With the Area Council Elections approaching, Ebegba urged FCT residents to increase their vigilance and share actionable information to maintain peace across all communities.

Supporting this stance, the National Chairman of the PCRC reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to the Enhanced Citizens Engagement and Community Support for National Security framework. This initiative aims to further unite communities and the police force through structured, grassroots involvement and sustained cooperation.
