Stakeholders in the justice sector have called on the ECOWAS Court of Justice to develop concrete strategies that would compel member states to enforce its rulings.
Securitynewsalert.com heard that the call was made during a bilateral meeting of the court held in Abuja, where participants stressed the need to strengthen compliance with judgments delivered by the regional judicial body.
According to a report by the Nigerian Television Authority, stakeholders noted that the effectiveness and credibility of the court depend largely on the willingness of member states of the ECOWAS to implement its decisions.
Participants at the meeting emphasised that while the court has delivered several landmark rulings on human rights, governance, and regional disputes, enforcement remains a major challenge. They urged the court to collaborate with national governments and relevant institutions to ensure that its judgments are respected and executed.
The bilateral engagement is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the role of the ECOWAS Court in promoting justice, the rule of law, and regional integration across West Africa. #https://securitynewsalert.com/
