Delta Police Launches Clean-Up, Medical Outreach to Mark National Police Week 2026

-

The Delta State Police Command on Monday kicked off activities for the 2026 National Police Week with a statewide sanitation exercise and free medical outreach.

The initiative, held across all nine area commands in the state, saw police officers clean public spaces, drainages, and surrounding environments within their jurisdictions. The exercise, according to the command, is part of efforts to promote a healthier environment and strengthen ties with communities.

Simultaneously, the command conducted a medical outreach programme at designated locations, including the Police Headquarters, where residents received free healthcare services. These services included basic health checks, medical consultations, and the distribution of essential medications.

Speaking during the exercise at Anioma Market, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, said the activities align with the theme of this year’s celebration, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

He emphasised that policing goes beyond enforcing the law to include community service and engagement.

“Policing is not just about law enforcement; it also involves building relationships and contributing to the well-being of the community,” he said.

Oyeniyi urged residents to adopt proper sanitation habits, stressing the importance of cleanliness in maintaining good health.

“Cleanliness is essential for healthy living. We encourage residents to keep their homes and surroundings clean at all times,” he added.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to programmes that promote public health, enhance community partnership, and ensure the safety and well-being of residents across the state. #Securitynewsalert.com
