Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have rescued two kidnapped victims during an early morning operation in Kyado, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The rescue, carried out at about 3:50 a.m. on April 15, 2026, led to the safe recovery of Sylvester Micheal Ebuka and Chidinma Chikwentu, who had been abducted in separate incidents earlier in the month.
Ebuka was kidnapped on April 2 at about 6:50 a.m., while Chikwentu was taken on April 6 at approximately 5:13 p.m., according to military authorities.
The operation followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated offensives targeting suspected bandit hideouts in the area. Troops conducted aggressive patrols aimed at dislodging criminal elements, forcing the abductors to flee and abandon their captives.
Both victims were rescued unharmed.
The Force Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience.
“This successful rescue underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations and our determination to deny criminal elements freedom of action,” he said.
Gara reassured residents of Benue State of the military’s commitment to sustaining operations until threats to peace and security are fully addressed. #Securitynewsalert.com
