Child Trafficking: Widow Alleges Forced Removal of Son by NGO, Seeks Help After Seven Months

-

A widow has raised an alarm over the alleged forced removal of her seven-year-old son by an NGO, in a case described as every parent’s worst nightmare.

The woman, who shared her story on the Brekete Family, said the incident occurred months after she lost her husband, leaving her children as her only source of comfort.

According to her account, representatives of the NGO had visited her community claiming to support less privileged children and orphans. However, she declined their offer, insisting she would not part with her children.

“I told them clearly that I would not give my children because they are all I have left,” she said.

Despite her refusal, she alleged that her in-laws and some community elders intervened and forcefully took her son. The child was reportedly handed over to the NGO at the community chief’s palace.

The woman said the incident happened about seven months ago and that she has since received no information about her son’s whereabouts.

“Since that day, I have not heard anything about my child. I don’t know where he is. There is no trace, no explanation,” she lamented.

When contacted by Brekete Family, the secretary to the community chief reportedly confirmed that the children, including the woman’s son, were collected and handed over at the palace.

Reacting to the development, the host of the programme, Ahmed Isah, issued a two-week ultimatum to the community leadership to produce the children.

“Inform the chief that he has two weeks to produce these children. If not, we will not be happy with what comes next,” Isah said. #Securitynewsalert.com
